I/O-Efficient Event Based Depression Flood Risk
نویسندگان
چکیده
Our algorithm is I/O-efficient, meaning it is able to handle terrain models that are too large to fit in the RAM, which is the case for the 1.6 m resolution model of Denmark. Our algorithm can process the 1.6 m model in 2 hours on a standard workstation, which shows that our algorithm can be useful in near-term flood risk assessment. We assume that water only flows on the surface of the terrain. When a depression fills up, remaining water flows across a saddle cell of the terrain into a neighboring depression.

A flood risk projection for Soleimantangeh Dam against future climate change
A sensitivity analysis of the flood safety of Solaimantangeh dam using a regional climate change simulation is presented. Based on the output of the CCSM (Community Climate Change System Model) general circulation model, the NIRCM (North of Iran Regional Climate Model) computes regional scale output with 50 km spatial resolution and 21 vertical layers. Using the SRES (Special Report Emission Sc...
متن کاملThe Effects of an Acute Stressor on Depressive Symptoms among Older Adults: The Moderating Effects of Social Support and Age
This study uses longitudinal data to examine the potential moderating effects of social support and age among older adults exposed to an acute stressor. Using a sample of 651 older persons, data were gathered in the spring of 1992 and in the fall of 1993, approximately 60 days after the peak impact of flooding in the Midwest. Results indicate a positive association between preand post-flood dep...
متن کاملA Risk Assessment Model of Flood Based on Information Diffusion Method and BP Neural Network
Climate change has caused more frequent floods in China which have already resulted in huge losses. Thus flood risk assessment and management is an important research topic. In this paper, a new model of flood risk assessment is proposed based on the information diffusion theory and the back propagation (BP) neural network. Due to the fact that flood statistics data are relatively short and oft...
متن کاملA Blueprint for Full Collective Flood Risk Estimation: Demonstration for European River Flooding.
Floods are a natural hazard evolving in space and time according to meteorological and river basin dynamics, so that a single flood event can affect different regions over the event duration. This physical mechanism introduces spatio-temporal relationships between flood records and losses at different locations over a given time window that should be taken into account for an effective assessme...
متن کاملEvaluation of urban resilience in dealing with flood risk using SWMM and Hec-Ras models in Mashhad Ab-o-Bargh neighborhood
Aims & Background Assessing the vulnerability of urban areas to surface water in cities is of particular importance. Destruction of the watershed upstream of urban areas, including the destruction of vegetation and road construction, as well as the uncontrolled expansion of urban and industrial lands, reduces the infiltration and increases runoff and carries the risk of floods. This study aims ...
